Day 4: 19th October, 2007

At a reflex level, trekking is a physical challenge: a simple desire to pick a path and measure up to the terrain and the elements. The Adventure component adds the spice of uncertainty, raising the stakes for you to test yourself in unfamiliar territory.
On a deeper level, trekking is a bridge between ancient lifestyle : the fixed vision of a settler counterbalanced by the transient motion of a nomad. As an evolution from a simplification, a reduction to portable basics, and implicit trust in your ability to define what you need to live.
We started Trekking at 9:30 after an excellent breakfast by our camp cook. We packed all our tents, luggages, sleeping bags etc., and moved towards the Base camp which is about 2-3 Km towards the mountain ranges peak. We halted near the temple to enjoy the awe-inspiring beauty of Garhwal meadows.
We camped again near a small temple and prepared to trek towards Gorson peak (around 3700mt above MSL).

The main attraction of this place is the imposing view of the eastern peaks of Garhwal Himalayas, the twin peaks of Nanda Devi, Kamet, Dronagiri, Trishul, Bertholi,Hathi Ghodi Parvat, Mana, and Neelkanth peaks.

The trek passes through Pristine Rhododendron, oak and deodar forest. Rarely Himalayan flora and fauna are found as plenty as on this trail

On the day of trekking it was a clear sky & hence the most of the time, we were trekking in the company of these mountains giving you a thrilling experience of the mighty Himalaya , particularly the Nanda Devi Massif. These mountains though far away appear very close.
With great difficulty and strain we could climb to the Gorson peak by 14:10. We were simply awestruck to see the scenic beauty of valleys and pass from the peak. A sense of exhilaration and achievement filled our souls.

Return from the peak was more tiring than climbing the peak. We made the task easy by sliding through the steep snow slopes!
Twilight filled the meadows with unseen beauty. We came back to the base camp fully tired yet soulful of having experienced such a great feast of Mother nature
We had a camp fire that evening to chill out the extremely cold weather. A cool breeze blowing across the wide open Alpine meadows, while we were snuggling up in tents sipping a cup of piping hot soup is an unforgettable moment of our trip!
